Child safety standards
Sumaself strictly prohibits every form of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page explains our rules, how to report, and what we do when we receive a report.
Minimum age
Sumaself is only for people aged 16 and older. Sign-up is refused when the birth date entered shows an age under 16, and an account that turns out to belong to someone under 16 is deleted. Users aged 16 and 17 may use Sumaself only if their parent or guardian knows and agrees.
Protection for users under 18
Accounts of users under 18 get extra protection automatically:
- The account does not appear in New friends, and Discoverable cannot be turned on.
- People who are not their friends see only their user ID and avatar.
- Other people can find them only by their exact user ID, and a chat can start only after a friend request is accepted.
- They can join only Circles where every member is their friend, and a Circle they create is always private.
- Their activity is not used to suggest people or Circles to them.
What is prohibited
On Sumaself, no one may:
- create, request, store, share, or promote sexual content involving children, including edited or AI-generated images;
- approach a child with a sexual purpose (grooming), for example by asking for private photos or asking to meet for that purpose;
- blackmail a child with private photos or videos (sextortion);
- offer, sell, or traffic children.
We close an account that breaks these rules right away, without a warning first.
How to report
Tap the Report button on a profile, chat, message, or Circle. You can also send an email to support@sumaself.com with "Child safety" as the subject.
We always treat reports about children as urgent and handle them within 4 hours.
If a child is in danger right now, do not wait for our reply. Contact the police or the child protection service in your country:
- Indonesia: police at 110, or SAPA 129 of the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (call 129 or WhatsApp 08111-129-129).
- Malaysia: police at 999, or Talian Kasih at 15999.
- Singapore: police at 999, or the National Anti-Violence and Sexual Harassment Helpline at 1800-777-0000.
- Other countries: your local emergency number. You can find the hotline for reporting child sexual abuse material in your country at inhope.org.
What we do
When we receive a report about a child, we:
- remove the content and close the offender's account;
- keep the evidence that is needed, as the law allows, so it can be handed to the authorities;
- report to the police and other relevant authorities in the country concerned, as the law requires;
- help the authorities who investigate the case.
We do not tell the reported person who reported them.
Laws we follow
We follow the child protection laws of Indonesia, including the Child Protection Law, the Pornography Law, the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, and Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 (PP Tunas). In other countries where Sumaself is available, we also follow the local child protection laws. In addition, we follow the child safety policies of the App Store and Google Play.
